Shenzhen reports three new confirmed COVID cases

Shenzhen reported three new confirmed cases of COVID-19 yesterday, bringing the total number of infections in the latest COVID resurgence in the city to 16 since Jan. 31, according to the municipal health authority.

The three new infections were found among close contacts of previous cases and key risk groups.

Case 14 involves a 68-year-old female who lives in Xiaxin Village in Luozu Community, Shiyan Subdistrict, Bao’an District. She was previously put under centralized quarantine as a close contact. The woman was diagnosed as a mild case of COVID-19.

Case 15 involves a 20-year-old female who lives and works in Shiyan Subdistrict, Bao’an District. She is an employee of a company in the subdistrict’s epidemic control areas. She was diagnosed as a confirmed case of COVID (common type).

Case 16 involves a 20-year-old female who lives in Langxin Village, Shiyan Subdistrict, Bao’an District. She was diagnosed as a confirmed case of COVID (common type).

Relevant departments in the city and the district are tracing the activity tracks and close contacts of the 16 cases in a comprehensive way, said the city’s health commission.

The cases’ close contacts and secondary close contacts in the city have been placed under quarantine as required, while letters of assistance in epidemiological investigations have been sent for tracing those outside the city.

Nucleic acid testing services are available free of charge at a total of 536 locations across the city today for green health code holders who want a nucleic acid test, according to the commission.
