SZ reports 1 more local case, 9 imported confirmed cases

Shenzhen reported one locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 case and nine imported confirmed cases yesterday.

The local case was detected during a daily routine screening of mainland drivers of trucks from Hong Kong.

The patient is a 35-year-old male truck driver who lives in Huangbei Subdistrict, Luohu District, Shenzhen and Tangxia County in Dongguan City, Guangdong Province.

The driver started working Feb. 5 and all of his daily nucleic acid test results were negative between Feb. 6 and 10. However, his preliminary test result was positive during Friday's rountine screening. His reviewed test result issued by the Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) early yesterday morning was also positive.

He was diagnosed as a mild case of COVID-19 and has been sent to the emergency ward of Third People's Hospital of Shenzhen for treatment.

The new case's genome sequencing is under way.

The imported cases involved nine Chinese nationals who came to Shenzhen from Hong Kong. They were quarantined upon entry and have been later sent to the Third People’s Hospital of Shenzhen for treatment. The patients are currently in stable condition.
