SZ reports 6 new local confirmed COVID-19 cases

Shenzhen reported six new locally transmitted confirmed cases, two local asymptomatic infections and four imported confirmed cases of COVID-19 yesterday.

Five of the six new local confirmed infections and one asymptomatic patient were found among close contacts of a quarantine hotel staffer in Guangming District who was reported to be a COVID patient Sunday.

They are workers at the same quarantine hotel. They were under closed-loop management during work and their activity tracks in the past 14 days only involved their dormitory and workplace. Their genomic sequencing is under way.

The other one new local confirmed case and the local asymptomatic infection were detected during the routine screenings of COVID among key groups and close contacts and secondary close contacts. The confirmed case is a 37-year-old woman who works in Yuehai Subdistrict in Nanshan District, and lives in Shatou Subdistrict in Futian District. The asymptomatic patient is a 12-year-old who is a close contact of the woman.

A preliminary investigation showed that the whereabouts of the woman and the 12-year-old in the past 14 days mainly involved the Shawei Station of Metro Line 7 and the Gaoxinyuan Station of Metro Line 1, Unit B of Building 8 in Dachong Chengshi Garden complex and the Tonggu Road outlet of Minxin Drug Store in Nanshan District, the Shawei outlet of Youlejia Supermarket, Ruifengyuan shopping center, Shawei outlet of Runfayuan Restaurant, the Xinzhou outlet of Carrefour Supermarket and the Xinzhou store of Tongchuang Art Education in Shatou Subdistrict, Futian, and the Bank of China Beifang Building branch in Futian Subdistrict, Futian.

All of the close contacts and secondary close contacts of the two COVID patients who have been identified are under quarantine as required, and further tracking is under way.

Buildings 5, 6, 9, 10, 14 and 15 in Shazuicun housing complex have been locked down.

Separately, Shenzhen reported four imported confirmed COVID-19 cases yesterday. They were all Chinese nationals arriving from Hong Kong.

They were quarantined upon entry and later transferred to the emergency wards of the Third People's Hospital of Shenzhen for treatment. They are currently in stable condition.
