SZ reports 3 more local confirmed COVID-19 cases

Shenzhen reported three new locally transmitted confirmed cases, 11 imported confirmed cases and two imported asymptomatic cases of COVID-19 yesterday.

One of the three new local cases was found among the close contacts of a quarantine hotel staffer in Guangming District who was reported to be a COVID patient Sunday. The patient, the 15th found in the cluster of cases, is a 23-year-old male working in the same quarantine hotel. His activity tracks over the past 14 days only involved his workplace and dormitory.

Genome sequencing of the patient is under way. Genome sequencing of the other 14 patients of the same cluster showed that they were infected with the Omicron variant (BA.2 sublineage) and belonged to the same transmission chain.

The other two new local cases were found during citywide routine screenings. The patients, a 40-year-old male and a 47-year-old male, both work and live in Bantian Subdistrict, Longgang District. They have been diagnosed as mild cases of COVID-19.

A preliminary investigation showed that the places they had visited over the past 14 days mainly included Block F of Bantian International Center, Max City shopping mall, Wanpan Mall and Mingyinghong International Supply Chain (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd. in Gaoshi Stone Logistics Park in Bantian Subdistrict, Longgang District, Building 57 of Dabuxincun housing compound in Guanhu Subdistrict, Longhua District, and Warehouse Building 6 of Modern International Logistics Park in Fuyong Subdistrict, Bao’an District.

The patients of the 11 imported confirmed cases all arrived from Hong Kong, while the patients of the two imported asymptomatic cases arrived from Hong Kong and Japan respectively. They were put under closed-loop management upon entry and later transferred to the Third People’s Hospital of Shenzhen for treatment. All of them are in stable condition.
